Don’t be fooled into thinking that these books are written solely for children. These fun and enjoyable reads can teach you timeless lessons you should always live by, no matter your age.
They’re mostly short stories, so they honestly make a great companion for any journey! Let’s start with one of the most beloved classics of all time.
1. The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

With only a handful of words written on each page, The Little Prince is a short and easy read, packed with philosophical punches and life-changing realizations about everyday things. You can finish the book in merely a couple of hours, and the lessons will stick with you for a lifetime.
2. Matilda by Roald Dahl

Matilda is a brilliant, brave little girl who has to deal with mean grown-ups at such a young age. She eventually discovers something more extraordinary about herself and uses this to overcome tremendous challenges throughout the story. The book will teach you the value of standing up for what you believe in, and most importantly, by the time you finish, leave you with a feeling of empowerment.
Matilda is a fun and exciting read but also surprisingly poignant. There are many layers in the story that even adults can appreciate. The film adaptation is also definitely worth a watch.
3. Wonder by RJ Palacio.

The book follows the story of Auggie Pullman, a home-schooled boy with severe facial deformities who finally starts going to public school for the first time. The alternating point of view among Auggie, his sister, and his friends in the story will show you how a single boy’s journey through school can make everyone else around him realize something about themselves.
Wonder turns what could have easily been a heart-breaking story into an uplifting one about how kindness can change lives for the better.
I hope you enjoy my selections! I’d love to hear your thoughts and recommendations in the comments.
